Antique amber glass bottle from the G. Michaelis Albany Chemical Company. It is a pharmaceutical or medicine bottle, amber glass to protect light-sensitive contents. (Gustavus Michaelis initiated plans for a college of pharmacy in Albany NY in the late 1870s. He was successful, and Albany College of Pharmacy was chartered in 1881. Court records from a half century later show legal proceedings involving the United States government vs. the Albany Chemical Company, Gustavus Michaelis, et al. See legal judgment in photos.) The only markings are embossed in a circle on the front: “G. Michaelis Albany NY”. There are no other markings. This rare bottle is in good shape, considering its age. Clean inside and out. Several bubble inclusions. Chip on the rim. Rough spot on the neck, which may be damage or a manufacturing flaw. Asking $18 or best reasonable offer. No pets or smoking in home. Free pickup in Saratoga Springs, NY. If out of area: invoice, payment and shipping through PayPal. Check out my other items; will ship together to save on postage. No holds. First come, first served.
